Bungalow in Grove, Oxfordshire.

The potential patio area in this newly acquired property was severly overgrown, having been neglected for years. There was a raised manhole cover hidden beneath the shrub which meant the whole area would itself need to be raised around 300mm, using a limestone aggregate, to deliver a level surface.

It was decided after consultation to go with chic black paving and to replace the old fence like for like to avoid neighbourly strife. A single step down gave access to the back of the property and the path alonside the garage.

Before work was undertaken, the path was half given over to a gravel-covered border which had seen better days. The brief therefore was to replace the border with block paving to create a broader, seamless path.

The main challenge for this project was access. Getting even a small digger in for the clearance was problematic and then once the area was ready, wheeling several tonnes of aggregate in using a barrow was quite a task!
